So you want to get a puppy?

Having a puppy, and a dog, is very rewarding and the love and many pug hugs I receive from them is very special, but it’s also a lot of hard work….A LOT! So if you’re thinking about getting a puppy here’s a small insight into my first year with Hugo and Holly…

I’ve been woken up before 6am every single day,

I’ve walked for 182.5 hours,

I’ve prepared over 1460 meals,

I’ve sanded & repainted chewed skirting boards and scratched doors,

I’ve cleaned the carpets 4 times,

I’ve had the heads chewed off a garden full of flowers

I’ve spent over £500 on dog and puppy food,

I’ve spent £260 on puppy training classes

I’ve spent £200 on toys and bedding

I’ve spent £500 on inoculations and vets bills

And ……

I’ve picked up over 1500 dog poos!

So you think you can handle all that? And more! They are 100% worth it but please think seriously before you decide to get a puppy! It’s reeeeally hard work!

so true! I have a puppy too thought she’s a jack Russel and now I’m an early riser too (though she can wait until nine if she doesn’t hear a strange noise at 4am)!!! The good thing is that puppies make people smile in the street and we love them (yes let’s remember how I love her when she pees again 30mn after coming back from her walk)

We are about to get 2 girls this week! Peaches & Beans!!! I will follow your blog – it’s great to get some insight from a current owner as to what pug raising entails. Jason & I have grown up with family dogs our entire lives however, this will be our first run at owning two at once – and pugs will be a first! Thanks for following our blog – I look forward to sharing our adventures and keeping up on yours! Best, Erin
